Snowfall and thunderstorms are expected in several Moroccan provinces from Sunday to Wednesday
Rabat – Snowfall at altitudes above 1,800 m (5,900 feet), a cold wave and thunderstorms are expected in several Moroccan provinces, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) said in an “orange” warning bulletin on Sunday.
Snowfall of 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14 inches) is expected in Azilal, Tinghir, Al Haouz and Ouarzazate provinces on Sunday and Monday.
5 to 10 cm of snow is forecast in the provinces of Midelt, Taroudant, Beni Mellal and Ifrane during the same period.
In the provinces of Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Figuig and Ouarzazate, the minimum temperatures will be between -05 and 01 °C, while the maximum temperatures are expected between 04 and 10 °C from Sunday to Wednesday Ouarzazate.
Heavy thundershowers (15-30 mm) are also forecast in the provinces of Youssoufia, Rehamna, Marrakesh, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Settat, Khouribga, Benslimane and Fquih Ben Salah.
