Snowfall and cold snap are expected in several Moroccan provinces from Saturday to Monday

Rabat – Snowfall is forecast at altitudes above 1,500 m (4,900 feet) from Saturday to Monday and a cold wave is expected in several Moroccan provinces, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) reported in an “orange” warning bulletin.

Snowfall of 20 to 40 cm (8 to 16 inches) is expected in Midelt, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Taroudant and Ouarzazate provinces.

Ifrane, Chichaoua and Boulemane provinces are expected to receive 10 to 20 cm (4 to 8 inches) of snow during the same period.

Temperatures between -05 and 01°C are expected in the provinces of Boulemane, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Midelt and Taroudant from Saturday to Tuesday.

On Monday and Tuesday, temperatures between -02 and 03° are expected in the provinces of Figuig, Jerada, Sefrou and in the highlands of the provinces of Guercif, Taza, Taourirt, Khenifra and Tiznit.
