German software giant JUICE Press the rod on the data front to supply the next generation applications. The company today introduced Business Data Cloud (BDC), a new SaaS product that includes Lakehouse Architecture to help teams enrich their SAP ecosystem data with external data assets from various source systems and increase the long-term value.
The product is the result of pioneering cooperation with Data Ecosystem Major database. SAP BDC essentially integrates functions and data from DataBricks’ Data Intelligence Platform. This eliminates the need to create and maintain complex pipelines and creates a harmonized data foundation for advanced AI agents and analytical workloads.
Several companies, including Henkel, use BDC to supply their AI projects with electricity. SAP itself uses the enriched BDC to supply a new era from Joule Agents Concentrate on certain domains such as finance, service and sales. The development makes SAP another remarkable player, similar to Microsoft and SalesforceSupport his data platform to lay the basis for AI.
SAPs revised data foundation
Over the years, SAP has established itself as one of the leading actors in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with S4/Hana cloud and several mission-critical applications for finance, supply chain and human capital management. These apps produce data on the petabyte scale with the business context and have operated the AI and the analysis value for teams via Business Technology Platform (BTP).
So far, SAP BTP had a ”DatasphereWith companies, companies can connect data from SAP with information from non-SAP systems and finally link SAP Analytics Cloud and other internal tools for downstream applications. The company is now developing this experience in the uniform BDC, which is practiced naturally by databases.
What SAP Business Data Cloud offered
This means that SAP encompasses the Lakehouse architecture and creates a uniform basis that combines all SAP data products -from financial, expenditure and delivery data in SAP S/4HANA and SAP ARIBA to learning and talent data in SAP success factors – with structured and unstructured data from different different, but business -critical systems that are stored in databases.
As soon as the data are uniform (via zero copy, bidirectional approval), SAP BDC can use database-specific functions for workloads such as data warehousing, data engineering and AI, all of which are ruled by the DataBricks-Unity catalog.
“We take all of these different data products that are provided and managed by SAP … and you will insist in a harmonized data model in the Lakehouse of SAP business data Cloud,” Irfan Khan, President and CPO for SAP data and analyzes, said Venturebeat. “This lakehouse has database functions on which users can build.”
Previously, Khan said that users who had a large percentage of their data in database and SAP data in S4 or BW at the same time. The approach took time and asked them to keep their pipelines up to date with changing data. With the native integration of DataBricks, however, users have access to everything in one place and can carry out data engineering, data science and other tasks directly in addition to the BDC.
“In the data aspher, they had the opportunity to do something similar, but they were all customer -executing data products,” said Khan. “So you had to go to the data platform, select the data sources and create the data pipelines. Then they had to find out what they should replicate. Everything is managed here by SAP. “
What does this mean for companies
In this core, this product with databases offers teams a faster and easier way to combine and mobilize the business data assets blocked in SAP and DataBricks.
The combined, semantically reinforced data pave the way to build AI applications of the next generation that aims at various applications. For example, a team could use the mosaic AI functions of DataBricks to develop domain-specific AI agents who could use the context of the business data of SAP and external database-specific data to use certain human-capital management or supply chain functions automate.
In particular, SAP itself meets these extended data foundations to provide the joules agents to be used by the heels to automate tasks and accelerate workflows in relation to sales, service and financial functions. These agents deeply understand end-to-end processes and work together to solve complex business problems.
In addition, BDC has a “Insight Apps” function, with which users can connect their data products and AI models with external real-time data in order to provide extended analyzes and planning across business functions.
Other data partners will come
While the partnership underlines a big step for both databases and SAP, it is important to note that Ali Ghodsi-LED data studio is not the only one who supports BDC.
According to Khan, data exchange and openness of the ecosystems are the company’s first design principles – and they will expand to other data platforms via their partner connection functions. This means that an enterprise user can select the platform that he prefers (or that it is blocked) and to exchange data for targeted applications.
