This post contains spoiler For “The White Lotus”.
We are in the last season of “The White Lotus”, And things are more chaotic than you would expect. Episode 5, “Full-Moon Party”, is the highlight of the anxious anticipation, since it bears the curves of a disaster that is waiting for the questionable decisions to happen that everyone makes. In the previous episode, a freaky gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) was recognized that his security weapon was missing, and here he grabs the fatal consequences of his professional supervision. In the meantime, Ratliff Brothers Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) are celebrating hard with Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), but the night ends that things really become. Really out of hand. We also see that Timothy (Jason Isaacs) is constantly on Edge ™ and realizes that he has to face every episode as part of Wall Street as part of a money wash chema.
Since these rather serious events take place, Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) is in great danger than An angry Greg/Gary (Jon Gries) intends to silence her before he speaks. However, Greg is not the only one who has murder in his head, since Rick (Walton Goggins) is currently in Bangkok with a half -baked plan to confront his father’s alleged murderer. In earlier episodes verbalized Rick how completely broken he is as a person and How his visit to Thailand is associated with his search for emotional closure. Once in Bangkok, Rick meets with an old friend (who remains unnamed from now on), played by none other than the Oscar winner and the Emmy-nominated actor Sam Rockwell (!), Who strolls only casually into the episode.
Let us immerse yourself in the motivations of this surprise figure and the role that he could play in subsequent episodes of the show.
Sam Rockwell’s character could be the key to Rick’s revenge arch in the white lotus
Rockwell’s incredible versatility as an actor is in “Three advertising boards outside of Ebbing, Missouri” (for which he won an Oscar for the best supporting actor) and exhibited) “Moon” 2009, where he plays a lonely employee of the lunar station, which stumbles on a terrible existential secret. His huge filmography also includes “The Green Mile”, “Matchstick Men” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. Also funny fact: Rockwell is married to Leslie Bibb, who plays in this season of “The White Lotus” Kate.
After Rick Rockwell’s character has pushed to drink a drink in the bar with him, he refuses and says that he has been sober for several months. This conversation takes an unexpected turn when Rick’s friend starts a monologue about his developing sexual identity and desires and, in which it (inevitably) interacts for self-fulfillment and the concept of salvation. The irony of this monologue is not lost, since “the white lotus” was primarily about wealthy, mostly white western tourists, the marginalized communities (which often include people with color) as a gate to a kind of spiritual climb, whereby the eastern religion/spirituality is hastily acquired in order to reach this end. In this aspect, the third season is shaped in the aspect and both sincere and hollow attempts from the rich/privileged are examined to use Buddhism as a means in order to repair the cracks in their existence.
In the case of Rockwell’s character, this perceived spiritual osmosis is accompanied by its mention of Transsex Workers, which he writes for his journey towards magical enlightenment, but we are (unfortunately) not inaugurated (unfortunately). For a figure that simply helps Rick in Bangkok and should pretend to be someone to ensure that everything to plan everything, the friend reveals much more than expected and represents a well -intentioned hollowness that the show has repeatedly approached. Even his attempts to be too sober and control of his life consume Eastern clots of spirituality, which, on closer inspection, feel rather empty.
At the end of this revealing conversation, Rockwell’s character Rick gives a weapon, and they agree to meet in Jim Hollinger’s villa for the fancy encounter. Depending on how things affect things, Rick’s friend could prove to be decisive as relevant for the upcoming confrontation, one that changes the fate of everyone involved.
Episodes of “The White Lotus” season 3 fall on HBO every Sunday.
