Sam Altman’s sister sues OpenAI CEO for sexual abuse
Annie Altman, the sister of OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman, has sued her brother, accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was a minor. In one Complaint Annie Altman, filed this week in federal court in Missouri, accuses her older brother of committing “numerous rapes, sexual assaults, sexual abuse, molestation, sodomy and battery” from 1997 to 2006, with the abuse beginning when she was only three years old.
In one joint statement Sam Altman, who came forward with his mother and two younger brothers, said “all of (Annie’s) allegations are completely untrue.” The Altmans say they have tried to support Annie in “many ways” over the years, including among other things, through direct financial support.
“Annie has made deeply hurtful and completely untrue allegations about our family, particularly Sam. Out of respect for your privacy and ours, we have chosen not to respond publicly. However, she has now taken legal action against Sam and we feel we have no choice but to address the issue,” the statement said. “…This situation is causing great pain to our entire family.”
In recent years, Annie Altman has made similar allegations online. “I’m no longer four years old while a 13 year old ‘brother’ non-consensually climbs into my bed,” she wrote in one X contribution from March 2023.
As part of her lawsuit, Altman is seeking a jury trial and more than $75,000 in damages. Per The New York TimesA federal lawsuit of this type requires at least $75,000.
