A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a high-ranking Russian general in Moscow.
Although the person was not identified by name, according to the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the suspect is a male citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan born in 1995.
He is accused of detonating an explosive device outside a Moscow apartment building on Tuesday that killed Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov and his assistant, Maj. IV Polikarpov.

The suspect said he was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence to carry out the attack, which the agency claimed responsibility for on Tuesday.

“On their instructions, he arrived in Moscow, received a homemade high-powered explosive device and placed it on an electric scooter, which he parked near the entrance to IA Kirillov’s house,” a Russian statement translated into English said. “To monitor the soldier’s address, he rented a car-sharing car and installed a Wi-Fi video camera in it, the footage of which was transmitted online to the organizers in the city of Dnepr (Ukraine).”
