Road accidents killed 21 people in Morocco’s urban areas last week
Rabat – According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), 21 people were killed and 2,710 injured, 100 of them seriously, in the 2,031 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas between January 13 and 19.
These accidents are mainly due to driver inattention, lack of right of way, speeding and failure to maintain a safe distance, as DGSN emphasized in a press release.
With regard to the control and enforcement of traffic violations, according to the same source, the security services issued 54,916 traffic tickets, filed 10,131 reports with the public prosecutor’s office and collected 44,785 fines totaling MAD 9.9 million.
The DGSN also reported the confiscation of 5,731 vehicles, the revocation of 10,131 driving licenses and the decommissioning of 441 vehicles.
