Road accidents killed 22 people in Morocco’s urban areas last week

Rabat – According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), 22 people were killed and 2,824 injured, 115 of them seriously, in the 2,153 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas between December 30 and January 5.

These accidents are mainly due to driver inattention, lack of right of way, speeding and failure to maintain a safe distance, as DGSN emphasized in a press release.

As for the control and enforcement of traffic violations, according to the same source, the security services issued 47,556 traffic tickets, filed 8,306 complaints with the public prosecutor’s office for driving license suspensions and collected 39,250 fines totaling 8.5 million dirhams.

The DGSN also reported the confiscation of 4,855 vehicles and the decommissioning of 374 additional vehicles.
