Today I rode the Coyote Creek Trail with my recumbent bike group. I met them in South San Jose and drove back with them. Since I was running a little late, I drove up the Monterey Highway to the start. It’s not as scenic, but it’s more direct, and I had a tailwind, so I flew there at 21 miles per hour. We made our way back more leisurely, with beautiful scenery and nice weather. We had lunch in Morgan Hill near the southern end of the trail. They drove back to the starting point in South San Jose where they had parked, but I was walking home from lunch. I call it a recumbent circus because all the trikes have colorful flags to make them more visible, and as we ride by it looks like the circus has come to town. This is a nice group, all older people like me and with various ailments (one was recently rehabilitated for a knee replacement) but that didn’t stop any of them as they all have trikes and electric assistance.
