Canada recorded a record number of foreigners in 2024, with a total of 16,860 people being returned in an irregular situation. According to the Canada Border Services Agency (ASFC), this upward trend should continue in the coming years, whereby the target of 20,000 annual evacuation has been achieved by 2027. More than 80% of the triggers or 13,527 people affected asylum seekers.
In 2024, Quebec recorded the largest number of expenses with 6,832 layoffs, which exceeded Ontario for the first time since 2019. This trend is also evident in the pressure of the Trump administration to secure the Canadian-American border, a context that has contributed to increasing the trigger. The Mexican nationals continue to represent the most important group that is aimed from these expenses, followed by Indian citizens. According to ASFC data, the number of Mexicans designated rose from 1,040 in 2021 to 3,579 in 2024. This guideline aims to better manage the migration flows and strengthen the safety of Canadian boundaries.
