Raiders’ Antonio Pierce slams critics who wanted the team to lose to the Jaguars to improve draft position

The Las Vegas Raiders may have complicated their draft position on Sunday when the team beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the team’s fans noticed.

The Raiders would have fallen to 2-13 with a loss and would have been neck and neck with the Raiders New York Giants for the No. 1 overall pick. But the Raiders won and the Giants lost. As a result of the result, Las Vegas fell to 6th place.

While fans were upset about the Raiders on social media, head coach Antonio Pierce addressed the critics during his media availability.

“We’re not doing this to lose,” he said via Pro football talk. “We’re not doing this for anyone’s fantasy football team. We don’t do this for anyone’s draft predictions. None of this matters to us. The only thing that matters to us is winning, and that’s all we want to do.”

Las Vegas is in the midst of one of the worst seasons in its franchise’s history. Three wins is a far cry from what they were hoping for after narrowly missing the playoffs last season when Pierce replaced Josh McDaniels as head coach midway through the season.

The Raiders have only made the playoffs twice since their loss to the Raiders Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl in the 2002 season. They also didn’t make it out of the wild card round.

Las Vegas takes on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and ends the season on January 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
