The night owls worldwide wrapped themselves in multi -colored flags and floating protest signs in June. For proud events – a monthly celebration of the LGBTQ community, which also symbolizes one Running For equality and inclusion.
The roots of Pride Month go back to June 28, 1969 when a police overturned New York City Stonewall InnA gay bar, led to a few nights with the LGBTQ customers of the bar, which became known as Stonewall or Stonewall uprising -a demonstration that is now regarded as the beginning of the LGBTQ right of rights. The marches took place in Manhattan, Chicago and San Francisco to mark the anniversary of Stonewall the following June, and over time it became an annual event in more and more cities. Pride Month was first won the federal government in 1999 by President Bill Clinton.
Proud Marches and festivals have taken place all the month in different parts of the USA and all over the world, and New Yorks 2025 Pride MarchStonewall’s legacy takes place on Sunday.
