The Winter -Octopus fishing season ended on March 31, 2025 with sales of 644 million DH, which was 10.77 % compared to the previous year.
With regard to the landings, they were 5,881,303 kg and distributed over 3,082 boats that were active in several fishing villages. However, the average price has decreased and increased from 109.48 dH/kg to 97.29 dH/kg, whereby particularly positive results were achieved in the Dakhla region.
The implemented administrative measures make up the obligation of the state secretariat to promote sustainable exploitation of fishing resources.
In addition, the Octopus fishing, which takes place in two seasons and encompasses three types of fleets, is of essential importance for the local economy to create numerous jobs and to require strict surveillance.
