Potter is hoping for fan connection before the first home game
New West Ham head coach Graham Potter is relying on the support of fans in his first home game in charge.
The Hammers face a difficult test against leaders Fulham and will be without several key players including Niclas Fulkrug and Michail Antonio.
But the former Chelsea and Brighton manager believes the London Stadium can be a difficult place for any team with the right atmosphere.
In his press conference, Potter said: “The most important thing is that the fans are behind the team and I have no doubts about them. “It’s been a difficult time for us as away coaches, so we need that connection with the fans and fans.
“We’re still at an early stage but we hope the results and performances are good because that’s what she brings.
“I can’t wait for the first home game tomorrow evening.

“I think our supporters know where we are on our journey. Ultimately, the result is the most important thing.
“We want to play the right way, but points are helpful. If we could have both, that would be great.
The reaction and approach from the players was really good. They are excited about connecting with each other. It’s been a tough time and we want to work together as a team.
“You agree to this.”
Potter’s first game as manager was a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The East London club took a 1-0 lead through Lucas Paqueta but fell short in the second half.
A win against Fulham would at least temporarily move them ahead of Manchester United and Tottenham in the Premier League table.
But the Hammers will be without some key players.
Asked if he was tempted to enter the transfer market this month, Potter added: “There is certainly a logical rationale for doing something (in this transfer window) but it is not always that easy. I don’t want to do anything about it in this window, which is very complicated.
“There are players coming back, so my focus is on getting the team going as well as possible.
“Sometimes you have to be creative in situations like this and pay attention to the characteristics of your players.”
