Portugal says that on Sunday it will recognize a Palestinian state on Sunday, which makes it the youngest western nation that is preparing to change politics because the war in the Gaza Strip shows no signs of stopping.
The Foreign Ministry made the announcement before the United Nations General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA) in New York.
France, Great Britain, Canada and Australia prepare similar announcements.
Israel convicted the move and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, he rewarded “terror”.
The USA – Israel’s main alleged – has repeated Netanyahus argument.

Around three quarters of the 193 members of the United Nations already recognize a Palestinian state that was granted the status of the non-member observer state in 2012.
While the leaders of the world gather on the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Israeli tanks and troops continue to occur in Gaza city as part of a soil offensive, which forced thousands of people to flee.
The Israeli military started a campaign in Gaza in response to the attack on the attack on South Israel led by Hamas in 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.
Since then, at least 65,141 people have been killed in Gaza in Israeli attacks, according to the Health Ministry of the Territory.
