The PlayStation 5 Pro has always been a machine for hardcore graphic enthusiasts A strong price of $ 700 and proprietary upscaling technology called Playstation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). Playstation is now doubling in this market by making the PS5 Pro a technological power package by implementing something like the latest FSR 4 technology from AMD in 2026.
The messages come from TEch Site Digital Foundry’s Interview With PlayStation Technology Guru and Lead system architect Mark Cerny, who confirmed that PSSR will develop into a new form that is similar next year as part of the Amethysten cooperation between Sony and AMD FSR 4.
“Our goal is that the UPSCaler of FSR 4 for 2026 titles as the next development of PSSR on PS5 Pro is very similar,” says Cerny.
The basics of FSR that uses machine learning to enlarge images immediately to avoid every hardware performance and increase a 720p image to 4K, and a mixture of CNN and transformer models, were born from the joint efforts of Sony and AMD, and the PS5 Pro was apparently built with this ascent. However, it can take a while for games to use this specific implementation.
While PlayStation is still in the implementation phase for FSR 4, they still encourage developers to use PSSR on the PS5 Pro. This will probably be used in the near future on the currently available hardware, but it is not difficult to see that Sony looks at the future and the next generation of consoles with these steps. Implementation with PlayStation 5 is still holding one foot firmly as you immerse your toes with further cooperation.
