Phoenix Labs, the manufacturer of Dauntless and Fae Farm, has released a large part of his employees two years after the tacit blockchain -gaming company Forte.
The layoffs came one month after the publication of an unpopular update for Dauntless on Steam, and shortly before another game takes up early access, according to comments from employees who were released on social media.
In a contribution about bluesky and LinkedInPhoenix Labs announced that it was “another difficult day in Phoenix Labs. The company had made the “difficult decision to separate from the majority of the studio as a part of unfortunate but necessary changes in our business”.
The company said it estimated the contributions of the people concerned and will share more details in the coming weeks about what it means for Dauntless and FAE Farm.
Dauntless is a free live service game, while Fae Farm is a premium game with online multiplayer. Game Developer reported On turbulence in the studio after Forte Labs had acquired it quietly in 2023 without announcing the change in the change of ownership.
The awakening update for Dauntless was criticized by the players because of his new in-app monearization and the loss of the previous progression. The game now has overwhelming negative reviews on Steam. Phoenix Labs was previously owned by Garena in Singapore, editor of Free Fire, and a subsidiary of Sea Ltd. Garena, who sold the company in 2023, and Phoenix Labs previously released 160 people according to the Forte deal.
