A passenger jet and a military helicopter collided on Wednesday near Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, said the US federal air management management.
The regional flight, which was operated by PSA Airlines for American Airlines, was created in Wichita, Kansas. The Bombardier CRJ700 and a US Army Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided when the jet approached the airport around 9 p.m.
In Washington Metropolitan Police Department said on X that “a multi-court search and rescue operation in the Potomac river after the aircraft crashed is in progress”.
American Airlines confirmed that an American Eagle flight was involved and said that he would “provide information as soon as it is available”.
Bombardier did not immediately answer a request for a comment.
