Overlooked epic legal thriller series on Prime Video is gaining new fans thanks to its main cast

Billy Bob Thornton is once again racking up awards nominations thanks to his starring role in Taylor Sheridan’s latest hit, ” Countrymanbut it’s not his first streaming series. In 2016, Billy Bob Thornton starred in the Amazon Prime Original. Goliathas Billy McBride, a former lawyer who found his way to the bottom of a bottle. The series was largely ignored by both critics and the public, but thanks Countrymanit is finally being seen as it deserves to be.
One man against the titans of industry
Goliath begins turning Billy against his old law firm, Cooperman McBride, when he takes on the case of a man who died in an explosion. Borns Technology, a huge corporation and one of Cooperman’s largest customers, claims he committed suicide, but the man’s sister is convinced there is more to it and hires Billy to take over the case. It’s immediately clear that powerful men don’t want the case to go to trial in the first place, but Billy, who has some unfinished business and a need to make amends for a past mistake, isn’t going to get away quietly.
Before the series began, Billy helped defend a murder suspect, and although he won the case, the suspect used his newfound freedom to murder a family. When Billy Cooperman left McBride, he made enemies of his former partner Cooperman, played by William Hurt, and his ex-wife Michelle, played by Maria Bello, who remained with the company. The basic structure of Goliath While the film isn’t exactly groundbreakingly original, it’s well acted and the writing is what you’d expect from creator and mega-producer David E. Kelley.
Each season, Billy faces off against a different “Goliath” that includes the Mexican cartel, Los Angeles politics, and a massive agricultural conglomerate. The role is a reflection of Billy Bob Thronton’s Tommy Norris in Countrymanthe confident and cocky hotshot who works for one of the biggest players in the oil industry. The two shows share a main character and many of the same themes, but are just different enough that they’re easy to combine at the same time.
Goliath was ignored by everyone
Alongside Billy Bob Thornton is the cast of Goliathwhich changes almost every season, features a bevy of familiar faces including Dennis Quaid, JK SimmonsJena Malone, David Cross and Haley Joel Osment. The show only aired for four seasons, with less attention in subsequent seasons, but the quality of the show remained consistent throughout. Every season further Rotten tomatoes was reviewed by fewer and fewer critics, with a total of five reviewing Season 4, but those who saw it rated it as a perfect, 100 percent fresh experience.
It’s easy to forget that a series is currently on Streamingor to simply overlook it, as every week another streamer releases another expensive show involving at least one major Hollywood star. There is no scientific basis for what will or won’t be a hit; For example, Goliath fell between the cracks while Countryman has already earned Billy Bob Thornton another Golden Globe nomination.
