Rabat – A total of 33,636 families have completed the reconstruction or repair of their damaged houses after Al Haouz’s earthquake.

General Director of the High Atlas Development Agency, said Laith, has updated progress in the housing reconstruction in a government meeting, chaired by District of District Aziz Akhannouch.

Laith added that construction work at 14,463 houses has completed 50%, while the total renovation process started with 52,669 houses.

In a statement, the government said that families whose houses were completely or partially destroyed received monthly emergency aid from MAD 2,500, which has now been extended for another five months. The government also checked the reconstruction of 165 schools, while the work on 763 others will continue and are expected to be ready for the next academic year. In addition, 42 health centers were fully rehabilitated and 17 more are about to be completed.

In the meantime, 92 new projects are underway to improve medical services in affected areas, the explanation added.

The government also confirmed the completion of the first phase of its agricultural recreation plan, with MAD 611 million being provided for the restoration of agricultural infrastructure, the support of animal farmers and the provision of free feed for animals.

The efforts to repair the most important roads are also progressing, including the work on the 64 -kilometer national road No. 7. The restoration of the water supply is also a priority, the government said, with repairs to damaged pipelines and 43 hydrological stations.
