The public project to rehabilitate a landfill in Ouarzazate, launched on Saturday January 25, 2025, will mobilize an investment of more than DH 20 million. This project ensures “optimal” disposal of household waste while respecting the environment.
The rehabilitation work, initiated by the Governor of Ouarzazate Province, Abdellah Jahid, is part of a major project to protect the environment at the municipal level of Ouarzazate and Tarmigt.
Under the supervision of the Ouarzazate Prefecture and the Ouarzazate Municipal Council, in collaboration with the Ouarzazate-Aménagement company, this project, financed by the National Fund for Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment (FALEEU), aims to promote and treat household waste and similar waste in order to reduce their impact on the environment to minimize. The project includes, in particular, burial, backfilling, construction of fences, gates and roads, construction of a sorting warehouse and the construction of several outbuildings aimed at the proper operation of the site.
The work also includes the establishment of a rainwater collection and redistribution network, the creation of green spaces and the lighting of all outbuildings of the landfill as a major environmental project to maintain public health and protect the environment.
