The national office for electricity and drinking water (Onee) held the 8th meeting of its board of directors on Monday. This meeting under the chair of the Minister of Economics and Finance, Nadia Fettah, about the delegation of the government manager Aziz Akhannouch, made it possible to return to the achievements of the 2022-2024 period. Overall, more than 22 billion DH, including 10.7 billion DH for electricity and 11.3 billion DH for drinking water and liquid connection, were invested during this period.
These investments underline the office and brought the electrical output with 12,017 MW, including 45.4% in renewable energies, and approached the goal set by the kingdom to bring their share to more than 52% in 2030.
The office ensures that these successes have made the equipment of a total drinking water flow of 86.3 m3/s possible, which gives the access rate to drinking water in rural areas to 98.8% in favor of around 13.55 million inhabitants in addition to the realization of seven new seawater salaries with a capacity of 71.5 mm3/year/year/year.
In 2024, the office ensured the satisfaction of the electrical demand, which 45,713 Gheliized, an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous year, with a consumption of 7,580 MW.
With regard to the activity of drinking water, the production of the office was set up in 2024 to 1,374 mm3, including 934 mm3 from surface waters, 374 mm3 from underground resources and 66 mm3 from the desalination of sea water.
