ONCF expects historic sales in 2025
The National Railway Office (ONCF) presents its ambitions for this year. It expects historical sales to exceed DH5 billion, up 6% compared to 2024.
“Forecasts for 2025 assume an increase in passenger and freight transport, reaching historical revenue of over DH5 billion, an increase of 6% compared to 2024.”says a press release from the ONCF issued at the end of its board meeting chaired by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh.
This year’s budgets foresee further growth in passenger activity with the aim of reaching 57 million travelers (+4%) and an increase in freight activity to 21 million tonnes.
The Office’s Director General, Mohamed Rabie Khlie, gave an overview of the past year before detailing the budgets for 2025 and the hypotheses used in their development. According to him, the year 2024 confirms the consolidation of the Office’s good economic and commercial performance and represents an important step in the realization of the Office’s new development cycle.
In 2024, the office recorded 55 million travelers, an increase of + 4% compared to 2023. This year was also marked by the confirmation of the attractiveness of Al Boraq and the growth of Grande activity, which Vitesse recorded in line with forecasts transported more than 5.5 million passengers, i.e. + 5% compared to 2023.
As for freight transport, in 2024 it was characterized by an exceptional performance, despite the international situation marked by economic disruptions and the volatility of raw material prices, with 20 million tons of goods transported, an increase of 17% in Comparison corresponds to 2023.
In total, thanks to the further development of passenger activity and the good recovery of phosphate activity, revenue in 2024 is expected to reach more than DH 4.7 billion, an increase of +9% per year compared to 2023. EBITDA should be at 1.8 billion DH, an increase of 9% compared to 2023, more than double the level recorded in 2019 (first year of commissioning of the projects of the last development cycle), reflecting the excellent performance of the ONCF .
