Rabat – Omar El Hilali turns his heads in Spain after performing strong performance that have aroused interest from top clubs throughout Europe.
The Moroccan right -back is a product of the Espanyol’s academy and only broke into the first team in January 2023. Since then he has highlighted his solid defense and his ability to play over the backline in various positions.
His talent and hard work have not been unnoticed because clubs like Manchester City, Aston Villa and Brighton keep an eye on him. But Espanyol knows that you have a valuable jewel in the squad and have secured his future with a contract that runs by 2027.
Despite an offer from Barcelona, El Hilali made a courageous decision. He decided to stay with Espanyol and believed that it was the best place for him to grow. “Espanyol was the sports project I wanted,” he told the Spanish newspaper as. “I think I was right.”

The 21-year-old can play as a right-back, left-back and central defender. His versatile positioning and defense skills were fully equipped in the last game against Real Madrid after he had managed to rest the whole game Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
El Hilali also contributed to the attack and built two assists this season: one against Valladolid and one against Real Madrid.
But clubball is not his only focus. El Hilali is also close to a return to the Moroccan national team after exceeding herself at the U20 and U23 level. He was also part of the squad who won the African U23 championship in 2023.
Morocco has to struggle defensively due to injuries and a waste of the players. El Hilali is assumed that he could be the perfect addition to solve the suffering of the backline.
