The National Agency for the Development of Oasian Zones and Argannian (Andzoa) held last Friday in Agadir, two meetings of its Strategic Orientation Committee (COS) and its Board of Directors (CA). These meetings, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, made it possible to incorporate the progress carried out within the framework of the implementation of the Development Strategy for Oasian Territories and Argan Tree, presented before SM King Mohammed VI, in October 2013, indicates the department of El Bouari.
They also made it possible to follow the Agency’s prospects and work program for the period 2025-2027, as well as the 2030 strategy. of efforts to overcome the challenges.
Specifically, Zoa is called upon for his 2030 strategy “Strengthen the resilience of territories to climatic vagaries, promote youth employment and the inclusion of women, and ensure effective coordination between actors to maximize the impact of programs and respond effectively to the needs of local populations.”. The Minister insisted on mobilizing additional resources and strengthening monitoring systems in order to materialize a model of sustainable and inclusive development that fully appreciates the wealth and strategic potential of these territories in accordance with the Royal Vision.
According to the assessment presented by Andzoa’s CEO, Latifa Yaakoubi, since its inception, between 2012 and 2023, the agency’s field of action has witnessed the mobilization of more than DH 143 billion thanks to the contribution of various institutional actors.
This mobilization made it possible to strengthen the infrastructure and improve living conditions in these territories, with significant results referring in particular to the reduction of the poverty rate from 13.4% in 2007 to 4.8% in 2022, the access rate of access to drinking water in rural areas Now reached 96%, and access to electricity reached 99.78%, in addition to the school rate in the primary cycle, which was from 90.5% in 2012 increased to almost 100% in 2023.
In addition, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the agency’s area of operation recorded significant growth from 96 billion DH in 2012 to 163 billion DH in 2023, increasing by almost 70%.
