Nvidia has teamed up with the state of Utah in a AI education initiative to improve the training and economic growth of the workforce.
The public-private partnership aims to equip universities, community colleges and adult education programs throughout Utah with the resources for the development of skills in generative AI.
“The AI
As part of the new initiative, Utah educators can receive certification about the ambassador of the Nvidia Deep Learning Institute University Ambassador. The program offers high-quality teaching kits, extensive workshop content and access to Nvidia GPU-accelerated work stations in the cloud.
By strengthening educators with the latest AI skills and technologies, the initiative tries to create a competitive advantage for the entire university system in Utah.
“We believe that AI training is more than one way to innovation-is a basis for the solution to some of the most urgent challenges of the world,” said Manish Parashar, director of the University of Utah Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI), which is headed by the one-U-initiative for responsible AI. “By equipping students and researchers with the tools to explore, understand and created with AI, we enable them to be able to promote progress in medicine, engineering and beyond.”
The initiative begins with the Utah System of Higher Education (Ushe) and several other universities in the state, including the University of Utah, Utah State University, Utah Valley University, Weber State University, Utah Tech University, the Southern Utah University, Snow College and Salt Lake Community College.
Setting up students and professionals for success
The Utah Ai Education Initiative will benefit the students who enter the job market and work by helping them expand their skills outside the community college or adult education courses, said Nvidia.
The state agencies in Utah examine how internship and apprenticeship training programs can offer practical experience with AI skills in order to bridge the gap between education and industry needs. This initiative corresponds to the broader goals of Utah to promote a technically experienced workforce and to position the state as a leader in AI innovation and application.
