Nintendo sets the Gold Points program

Nintendo Called today that it ended its popular My Nintendo Gold Points Reward’s program that offered the users virtual currency for the purchase of articles on his eShop. From March 24, no purchases that have been made through the eShop will receive gold points, regardless of whether they are digital, physically or via eShop cards. The remaining gold points are still valid for twelve months after they have been earned, which may be good until the next year.

Accordingly Nintendo’s news announcement Up to March 24, users can receive golden points on the basis of the existing rules for the program. They added that physical games published before March 24 are still justified for points, even if they are registered according to this date. With regard to eShop cards that still have the promise of gold points, Nintendo says: “You can still buy and redeem these cards for your full value, but you will not receive any gold points if you use the cards for purchases.”

The company has no reason to set the program instead of force users to participate in it. It is possible that the decision is due to the upcoming start of the new console of the company, the Switch 2, which will be reproduced later this year. The company has also announced that its Switch game vouchers for Switch 2 titles are not valid. It remains to be seen whether gold points are replaced by a new premium program that is unique in Switch 2.
