Ben Affleck’s divorce joke edited out of Nikki Glaser’s monologue
When Glaser appeared on The Howard Stern Show after her well-received Golden Globes performance, she told one of the jokes that was ultimately cut from her opening monologue.
“(I almost said), ‘Am I going to roast or should I toast?’ You know what? I don’t roast. “I’ll toast,” Glaser remembers. “And I just made all these toasts that were roasts. Like, ‘To Ben Affleck, I can’t wait to see which Jennifer you try to ruin next.'”
The comedian admitted she debated the joke’s impact, explaining: “And I argued, ‘Oh, I didn’t say ruin it.’ I said he tried to ruin her, so it’s not against her. But I thought, ‘That would have been crazy.'”

Affleck, of course, has a well-publicized romantic history. He got married Jennifer Garner in 2005 before they finally split in 2015. He later rekindled his romance with his former fiancée Jennifer Lopez in 2021, and the two tied the knot in 2022.

Ben Affleck was still roasted by Nikki Glaser
While Affleck’s romantic story didn’t make it into Glaser’s final script, the actor was still in the comedian’s comedic crosshairs during the live broadcast.
During her opening monologue, Glaser quipped, “Tonight we celebrate the best of film and make room for television.” Yes, “Wicked,” “Queer,” “Nightb-tch.” These aren’t just words Ben Affleck screams after his orgasm. These are some of the incredible films nominated tonight.”

Despite the roast-heavy format, Glaser insisted her goal was never to hurt feelings. In conversation with Entertainment tonight Before the awards ceremony, she made her comedic intentions clear.
“You won’t cry because of my jokes later,” she said. “Just be a cool person who laughs at yourself. If I make a joke about you, I promise you it’s not meant to humiliate you or highlight something about you that no one else has noticed.”
With her sharp humor and quick wit, Nikki Glaser established herself as the standout host of the 2025 Golden Globes, even if some of her most daring jokes didn’t make the final cut.

The comedian didn’t stop there and added her unfiltered thoughts about Baldoni. “Besides, I don’t want to say his name – I’m pissed I even know his name, to be honest, so I don’t have to say it anymore.”
And she stayed true to her word. There were no jokes about Lively or Baldoni’s ongoing legal drama during the Golden Globes.
