Nike’s prototype shoes squeezed and warmed our tired feet at CES 2025. This is what they feel like
“So far it feels like it’s vibrating, almost like a massage, so to speak.” Those are the words of my colleague, CNET editor-in-chief Lisa Eadicicco, as she slipped her feet into a new Nike shoe CES 2025. Made in collaboration with Hyperice, these boot-like ankle boots are essentially button-up recovery high-tops designed to help your tired toes recover from pain and strain.

The innovative footwear, which we first saw in person in Las Vegas, takes the idea of heating pads and compression socks as part of physical recovery for feet and calves and makes that idea mobile. Instead of you lying on the couch with heating pads or slipping into compression socks without an additional heating element, these on-the-go boots transfer heat and compression into the footwear that works well for you as you walk.
Additionally, buttons allow you to adjust the compression to your feet and calves as well as the amount of heat going to your tired muscles. There are three settings for each.
“You can definitely feel the heat here,” Eadicicco said as she walked through a demo room in Las Vegas. The boots massage and compress your ankles and feet, although in our test we particularly felt the warmth in the ankle area.

Although the Nike x Hyperice shoes were first introduced at the Paris Olympics last summer, we took the opportunity to try them out for ourselves, as a preview of the future in a field where electronics are in active recreation and not only helps monitor your vital signs.
The boots are battery powered and are intended to be used for both warm-up and post-workout recovery. Nike says A “system of dual-air Normatec bladders connected to warming elements” distributes heat evenly throughout the boot and aims to warm the muscles and tissue in your feet and ankles.
Without testing them longer, it’s hard to say how effective the shoes would be as a warm-up or recovery system for training. But the features are definitely noticeable the first time you use it.
The shoes have Velcro fasteners, feel soft and comfortable and are currently not available in single sizes, but in different sizes, for example in men’s size 10-12. Nike is working on a consumer version to go on sale, but there is no information yet on when it will launch and how much it will cost.
Nike is also developing a compression and thermal vest as part of the wearable line.
