Howe says that Isak could play against Brighton in the FA Cup this weekend and will start against Liverpool in the course of the Carabao Cup final next month.
Howe said: “We recognize Alex (Isaks) strengths and his skills. I don’t think we are a one-man team, I will never classify us in this bracket, but Alex brings unique properties to this role in the middle school into this crucial medium role that we need.
“We have other options for playing and the skills of other players that we can use. I thought there was a lot of good things in our performance against Liverpool, but we didn’t get you safely enough for your box.
“There is always a risk of every player, but we would not take any risks to his long -term fitness. We will see how he is today and whether he is fit, he will play.
“I think it is pretty clear to me with Alex if he fits into a game in the run -up to the EFL Cup final, he will play and we have to have this attitude with all of our players.”
