Newcastle manager Eddie Howe praised his team that he was not distracted by the upcoming League Cup final in Wembley in order to get an urgently needed Premier League victory at West Ham.
Captain Bruno Guimaraes scored the only goal of the game to raise the Magpies to sixth place in the table.
You will now face Wembley Liverpool on Sunday so that the Chacen will raise a DMOicic trophy for the first time in 70 years.
Howe said: “That was one of our best victories of the season, not in terms of performance, but wish and heart.
“We have shown all the great ingredients you need to be a successful team. You have to win when the game is tight and find a way to get over the line. After the first three minutes that were a bit scary, we defended very well. We deserve the victory.
“So it was such a good victory for me that it would be easy for the players to be distracted, but they were present. We will now concentrate fully on Liverpool. We will take everything into account.
“I had the feeling that we needed a win to go to the final with a real boost and Hebenzelfe.”
The defeat against West Ham leaves her in 16th place, with the boss Graham Potter being dissatisfied with the only goal of the game.
He said, “I thought it was a committed performance by us.
“The game beat and flow. We are disappointed with the goal, it looks like two hands in the back of our central defender.
“We had a few moments, not enough to win it, but we were obliged enough to get enough of the game.
“We tried to address the foundation and give ourselves some stability. As I said, the effort, the application and the desire to run back and to suffer for each other was suffered.
“It is not built in one day on the back of two victories. We have to move step by step. You have to continue moving. “
