Netflix is calling for Meghan’s new series to be postponed in light of the wildfires in LA

The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan is part of her and Prince Harry’s $100 million (£80 million) deal with the streaming giant. The trailer has already been released and shows her cooking in a Montecito kitchen and picking produce from her garden.

However, due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, many advertising professionals felt that sticking to the proposed release date would seem “insensitive” and “tone-deaf” and many added that Netflix should wait to release it.

Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in their own words, also shared Ede’s sentiments, saying: “The timing of Meghan’s Netflix show couldn’t be worse, given that hundreds of people lost their homes in the terrible fires have.” “

“The last thing anyone is interested in is a program about inviting friends over to eat canapés or arrange flowers when the city is in flames and people have lost everything,” Dampier told the news agency.

Dampier praised the pair for easing the pain of many victims so far, but shared that they “can’t really win” because some would say it was a “PR move.”

Dampier also suggested that Netflix “probably wants to move forward with the series, but Meghan would be wise to ask them to postpone it,” especially given her relationship with the streaming platform.

The royal author also noted that while Meghan isn’t to blame, he can’t imagine the show “being a success in the current climate.”

Dampier believes the series is the “final roll of the dice” from the company’s perspective, and if it “doesn’t work out,” they would likely cut ties with the Montecito-based royals.

“It just looks so bad for them to keep doing this and no one in LA is going to watch,” he added.

According to the news outlet, other royal experts and PR gurus also weighed in on the issue, with Richard Fitzwilliams saying the show “must be postponed” or risk portraying the Sussexes as “out of touch.”

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are supporting wildfire victims in their own way as efforts to contain the fires continue.
