The great Moroccan singer Naïma Samih died in the night from Friday to Saturday and left her a rich musical heritage. Born in Casablanca, she was one of the emblematic figures of the modern Moroccan song with a repertoire that marked several generations in the Arab world.
Naïma Samih started her very young career and in the early 1970s during the “Mawaheb” program, which was organized by the deceased Abdenbi Jirari. His mighty voice and moving interpretation quickly brought him a place of choice in the Moroccan musical landscape.
His varied repertoire includes sentimental, patriotic and religious songs, including the famous “Jrit W Jarit”, “Yak a Jarhi” and “Kif Lmaani”. She worked with big names in Moroccan music such as Abdelkader Rachdi, Ahmed Alaoui and Ali Haddani.
Naïma Samih marked the story by becoming the first Moroccan singer to appear after Oud Kalthoum and Fairouz in Paris Olympia. His departure leaves a great emptiness in the hearts of its admirers and Moroccan musical heritage.
