Mykhailo Mudryk’s mother ‘says no one will tarnish Chelsea winger’s reputation’

Mykhailo Mudryk’s mother has reportedly said that the Chelsea winger has been targeted by people who want to “damage” his “reputation”.

The attacker, who said he was in “complete shock” following his provisional ban by the Football Association (FA), was said to have been in “complete shock” when he revealed on December 17 that he had returned a “normal result” from a routine urine test supported by Inna Mudryk in an Instagram message.

“Mischa has worked all his life to become a football player” tribune quoted Inna Mudryk, who told her followers. “No one will ever be able to change this, no matter how hard they try to damage Misha’s reputation.”

Mykhailo Mudryk provisional suspension

FA guidelines allow players to be provisionally banned from football after a positive test, although penalties for intentional use of banned substances can be up to four years under Fifa rules.

On the day of the announcement, Chelsea confirmed that they were aware of the test and were working with Mudryk to determine what caused the finding.

“This was a complete shock as I have never knowingly used banned substances or broken any rules and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened,” Mudryk wrote on Instagram at the time.

“I know I didn’t do anything wrong and I hope I can be back on the pitch soon.”

Mudryk Chelsea stats

Mudryk has not played for Chelsea since November 28 and missed five consecutive games before the news broke. Blues coach Enzo Maresca explained that the Ukrainian international was ill.

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 in a deal worth up to £89 million.

In the 2023/24 season he scored seven goals in 41 appearances, while this season he has three goals and five appearances in 15 games, although he did not have any of his direct goal involvements in the Premier League.

Since Mudryk’s interim suspension began, Chelsea have drawn 0-0 at Everton and lost 2-1 at home to Fulham.

Maresca’s side are third in the table, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, before they face second-bottom Ipswich Town on Monday (7.45pm GMT).
