At least one person was killed on Moscow and the capital region and three injured in a “massive” drone attack overnight, the local officials say.
The regional governor Andrei Vorobyev says that the victims were in the cities of Vidnoye and Domodedovo, just outside the capital. Seven apartments in a residential building were damaged.
Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, says that 73 drones were shot down towards the city. The roof of a building was damaged by drone wrecks.
A district train network is now exposed to, and after the attack there are flight restrictions on the airports of Moscow -one of the largest since Russia in February 2022 a complete invasion of Ukraine.
The attack is only a few hours ahead A Krunch meeting between representatives of the USA and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, concentrated on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In a contribution on social media, Governor Vorobyev published pictures that allegedly showed one of the damaged apartments and burned vehicles in a parking lot in the Moscow region.
He said 12 people – including three children – had to be evacuated from their damaged apartments after the strike overnight.
Flight restrictions were imposed in the airports Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo in Moscow – main traffic centers that were used by millions of passengers every year.
The Russian Ministry of Defense later reported that a total of 337 Ukrainian drones were intercepted or destroyed either in Moscow and nine other Russian regions overnight.
Ukraine did not comment on the topic.
Overnight, the Ukrainian officials reported Russian drone attacks on the capital Kyiv and several other regions.
It was not immediately clear whether there were victims.
