Rabat-Morocko’s women’s football team secured a 3-1 win against Tunisia in a friendly on Friday at the Père Jégo Stadium in Casablanca.
Yasmine Lamrabet opened the goal for Morocco in the 39th minute, followed by goals from Ibissam Jraaidi in the 50th minute and Iman El Ghazouani in the 55th minute. Tunisia’s only goal came early in the second half, scored by Sabah Cheikh in the 48th minute.
The friendly match against Tunisia is part of the preparations of the Atlas Lionesses for the upcoming Africa Women’s Nations Cup (W.Afcon), which Morocco will organize this summer.
The Moroccan team will continue with a second friendly game against Cameroon, which is planned for April 8.
The team blocked the horns with Ghana in another friendly game last month, which ended with a 1-0 win for Morocco.
After the game Morocco Captain Ghizlane Chebbak said She is optimistic about the preparations for your team for the continental event.
However, she admitted that the match was a challenge for the team. “The Ghanaian team is strong and we wanted to play against hard teams like them to test our real level. Fortunately, we managed to win today, but it was difficult,” said Chebbak.
But she said the team will continue to work to improve their performance for upcoming games.
The Atlas Lionesses have risen a place in the latest FIFA world rankings to secure 60th place worldwide. The team is located in Africa, behind Nigeria (36th worldwide) and South Africa (40th worldwide).
