Rabat -Morocco was unanimously elected for the 57th meeting of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the conference of the African Minister for Financial, Planning and Economic Development.
The election took place on Wednesday at the ECA headquarters in Addis Ababa.
This appointment reflects the trust of the African countries to the ability of Morocco to contribute to the design of a more integrated and more successful economic landscape.
Morocco has been an influential player in regional economic integration in recent years, with the kingdom being a first -class political move to integrative development and growth.
The 57th session focuses on the management of the implementation of the AFCFTA agreement (African Continental Free Trade Area), a flagship initiative to increase intra-African trade and economic integration.
Discussions affect trade to contain strategic recommendations for digitization, technological innovation, nutritional safety and energy transfer as well as sectors that play a more important role in the economic future of Africa.
The meeting began with a committee for experts from March 12th to 14th and set the prerequisites for high -ranking consultations.
These discussions follow parallel events on March 15 and 16 to bring political decision -makers, economists and development specialists together in order to examine innovative strategies for economic resilience.
The ministerial segment is planned for March 17 and 18 and will be called African Finance and Development Minister to outline priorities and specific measures to support the continent’s economic agenda.
The choice of Morocco in this leadership role shows its place in African economic decision -making and its increasing importance in promoting increased regional cooperation.
