Rabat – The general affairs and the political conference for international private law (HCCH) unanimously approved Morocco’s proposal to organize the first regional office for Africa.
The Moroccan Ministry of justice It worked closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Morocco message in the Netherlands in order to meet all legal, political and organizational requirements for the organization of the office.
These efforts included the preparation of a headquarters, the acceleration of the ratification of relevant HCCH conventions and the assumption of support from the Member States.
During the approval meeting, the Moroccan delegation held a detailed presentation of the proposal and explained its importance and role in strengthening legal cooperation between African countries.
The proposal received a strong support because 33 countries fully supported the initiative, which is intended to promote the participation of African participation in international private law mechanisms.
The new regional office will serve as a key platform for legal and judicial cooperation throughout Africa. It will help implementation Hcch Conventions that improve legal security across borders and support the legal integration of various judicial systems in Africa.
The explanation recalled the leading role of Morocco in the legal area and found that it is the only African and Arab country that ratified seven important HCCH conventions. This initiative corresponds to the active role of Morocco in regional and international organizations, including the Arab league, in which it contributes to the modernization of legal framework and to improve legal cooperation, the ministry adds.
Morocco welcomed the decision and confirmed his commitment to supporting legal and judicial cooperation at both regional and international level. The Ministry of Justice said that the country wants to help African countries build a more efficient and harmonized judicial system that keeps pace with global changes.
