Morocco: The IMF approves a payout of 496 million US dollars

The Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the payment in favor of the Morocco of the third tranche for resilience and sustainability for an amount of around 496 million dollars (almost 5 billion DH).

Despite a new year, the Moroccan economy was still resilient. In the medium term, growth should accelerate that is made by larger investments and the continuation of structural reforms, the IMF announced in a press release published in Washington on Tuesday. This new financing refers to the total payment for this program to around $ 1.24 billion.

“Despite a new drought, the economic activity has slowed down only slightly and reached around 3.2 % in 2024 compared to 3.4 % in 2023, thanks to the robust domestic demand. In the coming years, GDP growth should accelerate from a new cycle of infrastructure projects and the continuation of the program to introduce the program for the structural reform program. Growth, make it more resistant, job creator and more integrative, “said the deputy CEO and incumbent president of the IMF, Kenji Okamura.
