Morocco: Smurfit Westrock opens its state-of-the-art innovation center in Africa
Smurfit Westrock, global leader in sustainable packaging, opened its brand new Experience Center in Rabat on Thursday January 9th, the first of its kind on the African continent.
“This landmark event not only highlights the company’s leadership and expertise in sustainable packaging solutions, but also reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation in the Moroccan packaging industry », describes one of the world’s leading providers of paper-based packaging solutions with around 100,000 employees in 40 countries. This new experience center is equipped with advanced and exclusive design tools that leverage big data, predictive analytics, AI, virtual reality experiences and the latest packaging technologies.
It is part of a global network of 30 interconnected centers with a team of more than 1,600 designers around the world. “It is a platform where our customers can discover unique solutions that redefine packaging and help them increase their value across the entire supply chain and differentiate themselves in the market.”explained Ignacio Sevillano, CEO of Smurfit Westrock Spain, Portugal and Morocco
This inauguration took place in the presence of Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, James McIntyre, Ambassador of Ireland to Morocco, as well as key managers of Smurfit Westrock: Ignacio Sevillano, CEO of Smurfit
Westrock Spain, Portugal and Morocco; Mounir Naciri, CEO of Smurfit Westrock Maroc; Arco Berkenbosch, Group Chief Innovation Officer; and Jurgita Girzadiene, Sustainability & Better Planet Packaging Director of the group.
The manufacturer has also launched a new production line with integrated high-quality printing technology. This investment, which exceeds DH50 million, will significantly increase production capacity to meet the ever-growing market demand, the group emphasizes.
