These projects follow two earlier agreements signed In October 2024 between Morocco and France, observed by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The first agreement partner Morocco with total energy, while the second defines the cooperation between the OCP and Engie and includes five projects, including one that focuses on green hydrogen.

Each project is assigned up to 30,000 hectares of land, with the government carried out measures to ensure the proper use of public country by contractual framework conditions.

The selection process used a “scientific and transparent methodology” to ensure balanced and sustainable partnerships between Morocco and investors.

The initiative builds on a state circular published on March 11, 2024, in which the implementation framework for the green hydrogen strategy was determined.

The strategy aims to use the country’s strategic geographical location, the diverse natural resources and the international infrastructure.

The meeting took part in the most important government officials, including Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, Equipment and Minister of Water Nizar Baraka, Industry and Minister of Commerce Ryad Mezzour, Minister of investment Karim Zidane, Minister of Household Fouzi Lekjaa and Maden -CEO Tarik Moufaddal.

The government claims that the selection process continues to be open to additional investors who are interested in the development of the development of the green hydrogen sector in Morocco.
