Head coach Jorge Vilda from Morocko’s women’s team says that the squad wants to win the 2025 women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The tournament will take place in Morocco this summer from July 5th to 26th, and the Moroccan coach says that he is working hard to prepare the squad best.
Vilda spoke to a press release in which he announced the Squad list for friendly games against Tunisia and Cameroon. “We hope to play more games before the tournament to prepare well. We played against Kongo and other teams to get ready. We chose for teams that are similar to our opponents in the tournament.”
He added: “Now we will play with the last FIFA-enclosed window before the Tunisia and Cameroon competition. They are hard teams. They will test us, but these games will help us see where we are before the tournament.”
“We have made great progress in the past year and a half. We have a strong defense,” Vilda continued. “We have also improved our attack and our style differently. The tournament comes closer and this gives us more motivation to achieve a good performance.”
Morocco’s head coach said that he had a “clear criterion” to select players and to concentrate on both performance and willingness. “We don’t care where a player comes from. The key is that she has a Moroccan passport. We have players from local clubs like so far and Wydad and professionals in Europe and America. Your experience in top leagues is important for us.”
With regard to this special squad, he says that he trusts them and adds that it is the best that I have trained so far. Our goal is to make Moroccan fans happy. The Moroccan team will compete on April 4th and April 8th on April 8th. Both friendly games take place in the Stade Père Jégo in Casablanca. These are the final tests before the Atlas wages complete the continental stage.
