Rabat-Morocko’s Minister of Economics and Finance, Nadia Fettah, said today that the country’s budgetary programming for 2025-2027 will concentrate on the reduction in budget deficit and the guarantee of long-term sustainability of the debt and at the same time maintain strong investments in social protection.
Before the Finance and Economic Development Committee in Parliament, Fettah said that the government wants to reduce the debt rate of the Ministry of Finance to under 67% by 2027.
To achieve this, Morocco will increase the fiscal discipline, including the determination of a medium -term debt goal and the control of public expenses and at the same time the income, the minister said.
She noticed progress in the collection of income and deficit in 2024 with the Budget deficit A shrinking by 0.5% of GDP compared to 2023. It also recalled the success of the government in creating space for social protection.
The financial strategy generated 15 billion by reforms in over 100 social programs, together with MAD 11 billion, which were mobilized by tax revenue. Savings from the subsidy reform also played a key role in strengthening social protection and social cohesion funds because it contributed to financing important social initiatives, added Fettah.
Hassan Boubrik, General Director of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), reported considerable growth in reporting on social security. 24.7 million Moroccans were covered by the end of 2024, with the daily claims submitted by 110,719.
In order to take into account the growing number of insured persons who CNSS has introduced measures to improve service efficiency and digitization. Processing times for claims now on average nine days, and an electronic medical card system is to be started to improve the accessibility of the healthcare system.
