Thanks to its border surveillance systems, Morocco prevented 78,685 attempts at irregular emigration in 2024. Migration pressure remained high: 58% of migrants came from West Africa.
The kingdom also dismantled 332 smuggling networks and observed 14 attempted attacks on the Sebta and Melilia enclaves, involving more than 4,290 migrants. In addition, 18,645 migrants were rescued at sea, while 6,135 benefited from voluntary return. These efforts demonstrate Morocco’s commitment to regional security and cooperation in the face of migration challenges.
