After a long absence due to injuries, the fast bowler Mohammed Shami will return to the Indian team for the T20I series from five-game T20i from January 22nd in Kolkata. Shami, who most recently played in the final of the Odi World Cup for India in November 2023, underwent ankle surgery and fought knee problems during his recovery.

Since his return to a competitive cricket in November 2024, Shami has presented its resilience and shape. He played in all nine of Bengalen’s games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and demanded 11 gates with an economic rate of 7.85. While he played fewer games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, his achievements were commendable, with five gates at an average of 25.80. Riyan Parag is not available due to a shoulder injury, while Ramandeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal and Vijaykumar Vyshak were left out in South Africa after their former T20i performances.
Schedule and challenges ahead
India meets England in five T20IS in Kolkata, Chennai, Rajkot, Pune and Mumbai between January 22nd and February 2. From February 19, the series serves as a decisive preparation for the Champions Trophy.
After the T20IS, India three Odis will organize Cuttack (February 9) and Ahmedabad (February 12). These matches will be India’s only Odis before the ICC event of the marquee.
