“It’s kind of a shocking moment when you go, this is real, this is happening and at a certain point you just turn it off,” he said. “What’s the use of continuing to watch? We kind of accepted the loss.”

While Ventimiglia and Mariano lost most of their possessions in the fire, including a crib for their unborn baby, who is due to arrive any day, the actor is grateful that the most important things survived.

“We have good friends and good people that we will work with and we will create. The most important thing is the wife, baby and dog,” Ventimiglia said.

The couple, that were linked first in 2022 and married in 2023, announcing in September 2024 that they were expecting their first child together.

“Baby on board!” Mariano wrote at the time on an Instagram post in which he shared maternity photos while sitting on a surfboard.
