Have you ever driven along and take care of your own business when an advertisement suddenly kidnaps your page with a full screen warning in front of a computer virus or an accountability? These are fraud without exception, but for the inexperienced eye they could look like a real pop-up from a firewall. For this reason, Microsoft uses EDGE AI to help users to recognize when someone tries to scare it to download malware or when giving up trusting information.
Now available for all users via a preview, the browser is new “Scareware blocker”Is a AI-based tool for discharge and navigation from these disturbing interruptions. While the integrated SmartScreen tool from Edge defender is already blocking known scams, it is the idea that Scareware blockers claim new threats.
The tool uses a local AI model to recognize when your browser entered full screen mode, a staple from Scareware pop-ups, and then examines what you see to determine whether it is similar. It was trained on “thousands of sample fraud, which was divided into the fraud control community with Microsoft”, and it is said not to save them in the cloud at a certain point in time.
While users can keep the ESC button manually in order to end full screen mode at any time, the model will do this for you by picking up a screenshot of the site and transferring it to a page that warns that it looks suspicious. You then have the option of closing or continuing the page.
The Scareware blocker not only contributes to the protection of users, but also part of the panic to climb one of these ads, since they often also play loud noises and hide the mouse pointer. If you quickly complete them and bring them to a warning side, the function should help you to regain your senses.

While I have already met these ads, I couldn’t call up when testing the function, but it is easy to activate. Simply navigate to Settings> Data Protection Search and Service and scroll down a little until you see the Scareware blocker switch. Switch it on and you will be prepared if a fraudster is trying to sell you the next time.
If you do not see the switching, you may have to update the edge (in Settings> About Microsoft Edge) or restart the browser.
