From Saturday to Monday, Snowfall, heavy rains and gusts of wind are expected in several provinces of the kingdom, which the General Directorate for Meteorology (DGM) have announced in alarm form. The red and orange vigilance levels are in force due to extreme weather conditions.
The snowfall of 40 to 70 cm is planned in the provinces of Ifrane, Azilal, Béni Mellal and Midelt over 1,500 m over 1,500 m. The orange vigilance (20 to 40 cm) also affects Guercif, Taza, Boulemane, Sefrou, Al Hceima, Chefchaouen, Khénifra, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Chichaoua and Taroudant.
In the north and in the center of the country, heavy rains, which are sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, are expected in certain areas such as Tanger-Assilah, Chefchaouen and Tétouan with a cumulation of up to 150 mm. Wind gusts of up to 95 km/h are also planned in several provinces, including Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech and Taroudant.
The DGM recommends the greatest caution and asks the population to respect the security instructions, especially when traveling and in the event of risks of floods or snowfall.
