Mental property: Start of the project “Swiss Partnership Morocco”


The “Swiss Partnership Morocco” project between Morocco and Switzerland was officially initiated in Casablanca with a budget of 17.2 million DH over a period of four years.

The aim is to strengthen the legal framework for intellectual property in Morocco, to improve the legal protection services, but also to promote their use by Moroccan creators.

This project is financed by the state secretariat for the Swiss economy and implemented by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) in cooperation with the Moroccan Office for Industrial and Commercial real estate (OMPIC).

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, emphasized the importance of this initiative to promote innovation and technological development in Morocco.

This proactive approach made it possible to record a remarkable performance, especially in 2024, with record numbers in relation to registered brands (31,500, an increase of 14 %), protected designs (6,800, +26 %) and the invention of the patents (2,900) . These results reflect a strong economic dynamic, which is led by a better awareness of the national actors for the importance of industrial and commercial properties“Said, Abdelaziz Babqiqi, CEO the Impic.

Nathalie Hirsig, representative IPI, emphasized the importance of international cooperation to strengthen institutional capacities and the support of Morocco for the optimization of his intellectual property system.
The project revolves around four strategic axes: improvement of the legal framework, the optimization of protection services, the awareness of the stakeholders and the strengthening of the application of rights.
