Notably, Meghan Markle also delayed the release of her Netflix show “With Love, Meghan” to focus on the wildfire crisis.

Harry and Meghan are reportedly unhappy with actress Bateman’s harsh comments about her involvement in fighting the Los Angeles wildfires.

Bateman took to X to express her disdain, accusing the former royals of being “ambulance chasers” after footage emerged showing them in casual clothes speaking to victims and volunteers.

Suggesting they were just there for a “photo op,” she wrote: “What a disgusting ‘photo op’ they pulled off. Are you ‘inspecting the damage’? Are you a politician now? They don’t live here, they are tourists.” Disaster tourists.

Meghan in particular was reportedly “heartbroken” by the criticism, especially given her strong ties to LA, having grown up in the area.

The insider shared: “It’s an insult to Meghan and Harry that anyone thinks this is just a photocall. Meghan was born and raised in Los Angeles, so this is her home and always will be.”

The source further stressed that Meghan, 43, is “not just a tourist,” adding that she is “completely heartbroken for all the lives that have been lost and for those whose homes have been destroyed in these fires became”.

Harry and Meghan, who live in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, about 90 miles from Los Angeles, were seen on Friday delivering food packages to those affected by the devastating outbreak at the Pasadena Convention Center, which has been converted into an evacuation center distributed to those affected by forest fires.

They were also photographed hugging José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, an organization that provides hot meals to the public and emergency responders in the wake of the fires.

Footage from Fox 11 Los Angeles showed the couple in Pasadena, where they worked with volunteers and met with the city’s mayor, Victor Gordo.

Speaking to FOX LA, Mayor Gordo praised Harry and Meghan’s efforts. He said: “They (Harry and Meghan) want to be as helpful as possible and actually they just want to be supportive.”

The mayor also said the couple visited burned-out homes in Pasadena and Altadena and met with those who lost everything.

“They took the time to get to know those affected and spend time with them. They are just very caring people who are very concerned about their friends and neighbors,” Gordo added.

Additionally, Harry and Meghan have made significant financial contributions through their Archewell Foundation and remain committed to supporting ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts.

They also plan to make more visits in the future. On Thursday, January 9, the couple released a statement on their official website, Sussex.com, expressing their concerns about the wildfires that have wreaked havoc across Southern California.

“In recent days, wildfires have raged through urban neighborhoods across Southern California, devastating families, homes, schools, medical care centers and more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” they wrote.

They acknowledged the state of emergency, encouraged others to help, and provided links to organizations helping with relief efforts, including the American Red Cross.

“Some families and people are left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys, clothing and other essential items,” they added.

Bateman’s public criticism followed Meghan’s announcement that she would delay the release of her new Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” due to the ongoing wildfire crisis in Los Angeles.

The show was originally scheduled to release on January 15th, but will now premiere on March 4th.

In a statement on Sunday, just days before the series aired, the Duchess of Sussex thanked Netflix for its understanding and support.
